Throughout our title sequence we tried to reach our target audience in many various ways. Firstly the location of our title sequence should appeal to our target audience as they would normally associate a picture perfect brightly lit park as a peaceful childhood memory and not a place to play with blood changing the once innocent image to one of horrors as thrillers normally intend to do which would draw in our target audience. Secondly her second location a peaceful estate and quite holy welcoming home isn’t the place would would picture the unimaginable horrors would stem from with that mysterious child with blood dripping on her hand and all over the bright pure white wall once was clean now a scene of evidence.
This scene would perticually engage our target audiene as they would see the contract in the kids personality and the purity of the home and invirents and asking the questions how a middle class girl with clearly a good life could do the actions they just witnessed and what did she do to get all this blood on her hands whiched caused her to hide all these things… all the qustions and suspence created by the start of the title sequence would engage our target audience. The sound of our title sequence did really create the feeling of dread and over all mistery for what is happening.
Our target audience is the type of people intresed in finding out the main story line pirce by piece and putting the parts togather filling tin the holes of the story to create a bigger picture, so the over all story line and the lack of storyline in the title sequence would attract our audience just ike our title ‘hidden.’ What is being hidden why is it being hidden whats hidden and why is this one object the main story line of the film? We made these clear by our social media promotion and formats we used on youtube and photos of production.
From our rough cut we have seen a huge significant improvement to what we have as our final product. We got feedback from our target audience that helped us to improve after the rough cuts. this meant we made changes that would definitely appeal to our target audience and help attract them to the film. from our first rough cut we can see nay errors we made in the early days of production like the lighting quality, for example the bathroom scene in the first cut couldn’t be seen near enough at all compared to our final product which had pretty good lighting and brings forth elements of the storyline the audience wouldn’t of known about like the mind state of the unbalanced main character and the lack of understanding the severity of the situation she is in. another huge improvement would be our cridits and sounding. In our first cut we only had our names and the title in our irst ccut whilst in our fial product we have job cridits, in the right orider, and in a good font that matches our genera and would appel to our target audience. The first cut didn’t have any sounds beside digetic I did like this as it made it feel more realistic but I didn’t like the silence towards the end of the title sequence and the long amout of wide scapshots not adding to the main story line unlike our final product we added a sound track which mainly addened to out digetic sound and begain helping the more sligent sceens there are evrious more I could go into detail about but I wanted to hocuse on these.
I do believe we have achieved I wider audience teenages and adolencents. From the people we have interviwed a lot of adl=olences said they find it intresting and would love to whatch our “full movie’ if we had one. This was unsuspected to be as they are abit younger than our main target audience but this didn’t mean we didn’t find anything about this different because out min tqrget audience is between 23-30 ‘ so in early adulthood’ this is why innot very surprised it appeled to older adoncncent kids.from most of thepeople we interviwed ive noticed the main comments we got where to do with silly little mistakes like spelling mistakes and the acting in our title sequence I remember one of our interviews were he said ‘ jessi keeps looking into the camera… this out me off as it felt like you broke the action of the scene.’ To me I agreed with this but I still think it isn’t a huge problem as this is the first time any of us done stuff like this and we didn’t realise this even accured until he made this comment. If we were todo it again we should consistently make sure this never happened again.

Q2: how does your media product represent particular social groups?
Representation of a group means the portrayal of their expected behaviour and stereotyping. Usually in the media serious teenage crime is shown to be committed by working/lower class males living in an inner city urban environment. Usually in our genre the social groups represented are typically adults aged from 25 plus who have planned and are in control of their actions. They are usually cunning and mysterious. In our product we aimed at the particular stereotype of a troubled teenager. She lives in semi-rural area with housing estates and open spaces. She is a middle class white female, not the usual type of person thought to commit violent crime. They would typically be well off and lead a comfortable life, but our character has acted completely differently to the norm. Without context it looks like we have portrayed the character in a negative light but this is because of circumstances outside her control. We wanted to portray the main character as an everyday teenager caught in a bad situation and not being able to understand or comprehend the severity of the situation and thinking if she doesn’t face it, it will go away. The genre we were working on was ‘thriller’. Keeping to the stereotypes of this genre, the audience is kept in suspense with twists and turns in the plot until the ending unfolds. We wanted our target audience to relate to our title sequence so made the main character a young female, which isn’t usual in a the thriller genre. We wanted to show that the victim of the crime was another young girl so used the newspaper headline and text message to relay this. This way we didn’t give any clues or background to the victim and viewers only knew her name and age leaving them wanting to get more information about this character, what had happened to her and by who.
The target audience of
our title sequence is male and female aged between 23 and 30. We picked this
particular age group as they are not long out of the age range represented in
the film and would understand how teenagers often get into situations beyond
their control. We set out to challenge the common stereotypes in this genre but
still maintaining the usual norms and challenges expected in teenage life.
