Throughout the duration of this post I will be
furthering my own understanding of what a target audience is and truly
comprehend the different target audiences for a lot of genres. An audience is an individual or collective
group who read or consume any media text for example, films, news, TV and
magazines. Whilst target audience is the intended audience of a specific form
of media for example, films like cartoons. Their target audience will mainly
depend on children. This is the film using audience profiling to understand
their film’s market. It is essential for a film to have a target audience as it
helps to advertise and get people excited for the film, it also helps create
wise decisions when it comes to the film whether or not the audience will love
the film or make production easier as they know what the audience expects.
Clearly everyone is different and different genres appeal to different types of
people. An example of genre appeal is horror films. Horror is normally targeted
to males aged 15 plus as they have a lot of mature content like blood and
graphic scenes.
