BLOG POST 9 - Analysing the title sequence of my favourite film!

My favourite film is The Perks of Being a Wallflower which is a film thats been adapted from a book and in this blog post I will be analysing the title sequence of it. The film itself uses a credit over a blank screen title sequence, this is a very subtle technique. It involves a blank screen which contrasts to the colour of the writing which is overlaid on top of it; in the first 34 seconds of the title sequence it uses a black screen which is contrasted to the white writing. After this amount of time, the black screen disappears and the film begins, the writing is still overlaid on top of the scene; the blank screen changes to a car driving through a tunnel at night.
Music is overlapped on the title sequence which makes the mood of the film feel relaxed and tranquil as the music is calming. The mise-en-scene of the film matches the music which also makes the viewer feel relaxed, by matching these it sets the tone of the film. Below I have written the order in which the title credits appear in:

1. summit entertainment presents
2. a mr.mudd production
3. logan lerman
4. emma watson
5. ezra miller
6. the perks of being a wallflower
7. mae whitman
8. kate walsh
9. dylan mcdermott
10. melanie lynskey
11. nina dobrev
12. johnny simmons
13. with joan cusack
14. and paul rudd
15. nicholas braun
16. reece thompson
17. casting by mary vernieu, csa and venus kanani, csa
18. music by michael brook
19. music supervisor alexandra patsavas
20. costume designer david c.robinson
21. editor mary jo markey, a.c.e
22. production designer inbal weinberg
23. director of photography andrew dunn, bsc
24. executive producers james powers stephen chbosky
25. produced by lianne halfon russell smith john malkovich
26. screenplay by stephen chbosky based on his book
27. directed by stephen chbosky

From reading through the title credits it is evident that the author of the book wanted to play a large role within the production of the film , he has done this to make sure the film portrays the truth of the story from the book.
