1) Black Swan
This was a discreet sequence meaning it was separately
filmed and edited into the title sequence. The purpose of this sequence is to
carry the titles of film. In this film the first title to appear is Natalie
Portman and she is very famous and her being such a star will attract the
audience to watch the film. This sequence focused on a ballerina dancing but
she is not the one in focus. There seems to be an extreme close up of a
material and splatters of black ink- or maybe even blood throughout the entire
sequence. The ballerina seems to be hidden and we don't see the face of the
ballerina which creates hooks for the audience to watch the entire film to find
out the mystery of this ballerina. The music in the music seems to be calm but
then the lighting gets darker and the music seems quite sinister. This music
sets up a sinister mood and a mystery which is going to be unfolded.
